THINK INSIDE THE BOX

The Think Inside the Box series focuses on memory and repetitive mark marking.

The inspiration can come from memories of childhood or somewhere I have visited, or just from a simple daily occurrence that has captured my imagination. So much about the way we go our daily lives is connected to our memories, and I love the idea of exploring the emotions and feelings attached to them.

Much of my work has a close focus on the manipulation of form and texture. Repetitive mark making is a key part of this series of work. It’s a very calming, almost hypnotic process as you can only focus on the action in that moment, and all external noise is pushed to one side.
