Inspired by the wonderful and historic city of Bratislava, Jelenia captures the city's unique topography as it gently cascades down toward the Danube. The composition reflects the natural flow of the urban landscape, where winding streets and layered architecture follow the terrain’s descent. This movement creates a dynamic interplay between the structured cityscape and the organic presence of the river.
Based on my travels through mainland Europe in 2018. At a turning point in my life, it focuses on my own personal interpretations of each city and takes colour inspiration from the scenery at night. These artworks all share the common theme of a single colour, which stems from the memory of the rivers in each city at night. Through careful and considered application I am able to create subtle shifts in tone, even though the original hue is the same. Each composition represents a separate city I stayed in and the feelings evoked by each.
